Falcons vs Dolphins Preseason Picks and Predictions: Fade Atlanta's Second-Stringers

Two days of chippy practices have set up a potentially heated exhibition showdown as the Atlanta Falcons face the Miami Dolphins in the preseason opener for both teams.

The Falcons are looking to build on a 7-10 season under young starting quarterback Desmond Ridder. The Dolphins made the playoffs after going 9-8 last year, and are hoping to improve on what head coach Mike McDaniel called “average” practices against Atlanta this week.

While neither team is likely to give their stars much run on Friday, one side has more motivation to run out at least some of the starting lineup for the preseason opener. We’ll break down what to expect in our free NFL preseason picks and predictions for Fal…

Week 9 NFL Parlay Picks: Bring Out the Best on Sunday

The NFL odds seemed to have caught up with bettors last week, as favorites and underdogs enjoyed an 8-8 split based on Covers’ closing spreads. I’m looking for the Kansas City Chiefs to rebound from a stunning upset at the hands of the Denver Broncos in the Week 9 odds, where I’ll be playing them as part of a three-leg parlay that includes an underdog with a shot to win outright and a total play.

I’m also looking at the big matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys as a place to play my best same-game parlay for Week 9. Read on to see my free NFL parlay picks for Sunday’s action.

Jaguars vs Texans Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets: Collins Stays Hot Against Jacksonville

The Houston Texans currently sit atop the AFC South and Nico Collins has done the heavy lifting for the offense, entering Week 4 trailing only Malik Nabers in receiving yards.

My Jaguars vs. Texans predictions expect the star wideout to keep the production going when he takes on a Jacksonville secondary that has been getting picked apart.

My best betNico Collins Over 80.5 yards (-115 at BetMGM)

Arteta admits he doubted whether Aubameyang would stay at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta admits he initially doubted whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would sign a new contract with Arsenal and that the player also had misgivings before being won round.

Aubameyang’s three-year deal was confirmed on Tuesday and put to bed months of speculation about the club captain’s future. It means Arteta can work in the knowledge he has retained his prize asset, but the situation when he took charge last December was less straightforward.

Lionel Messi: fans refunded in Hong Kong after anger over Tokyo appearance

The organiser of Inter Miami’s ill-fated match in Hong Kong, in which star player Lionel Messi failed to appear, said it would offer refunds of 50% after the Hong Kong government as well as football fans harshly criticised the event. The refunds will cost Tatler Asia, a magazine and lifestyle brand, $56m HKD (£5.7m).

Messi’s failure to play in the much-hyped friendly match on Sunday, because of a groin injury, sparked outrage in Hong Kong, with fans booing the 36-year-old for not coming on to the pitch. The controversy intensified when he took part in a match in Tokyo on Wednesday.

Messi said in a Weibo post on Wednesday that the incident was “regrettable” and that he hoped to return to Hong Kong. “Friend…

President Jason Wright to leave Commanders after 2024 season

Washington Commanders president Jason Wright, who in 2020 became the first Black man to hold that title in the NFL, will step down from his post at the end of the 2024 season. Wright, 42, will assume the title of senior advisor while focusing on the franchise's search for a new stadium site and stadium naming rights partner. "This feels like the right moment for me to explore my next leadership opportunity," Wright said in a written statement to The Washington Post. "I'm extremely grateful to my Commanders colleagues, our fans and this community for all that we have accomplished these past four years, and am looking forward to the start of a very successful season for the Burgundy and Gold." Per the newspaper, Wright informed members of the team's bus…

Euro 2021: So how is England going to screw this up?

The English are the Chicago Bears of international soccer. Even though they basically created the sport, and have one of the biggest fan bases as well, they have sat by and watched others pass them as the game changed and evolved, still clinging to what they believed, all the while bleating about their divine right to attention and success. And much like the Bears, they only have a singular championship worth crowing about, which gets more and more faint and irrelevant in the rearview mirror. And as a fan of both, I guess I’m seeing how I got this way and will reference this to all the people close to me going forward to explain whatever fuck-up is soon to arrive. It really is something that England only has the 1966 World Cup to claim. Even worse, there hasn’t even been another fina…
