BREAKING NEWS: Sterling signs Manchester City contract extension to 2023

Manchester City have confirmed Raheem Sterling has signed a three-year contract extension, committing him to the Premier League champions until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Sterling played a vital part last in last season s Premier League title success, scoring 18 goals and setting up another 11.

He has started the new campaign impressively as well, playing a role in 11 goals in just nine league outings as City sit top of the table ahead of Sunday s Manchester derby.

Sterling s previous deal was set to expire in 2020 and talks over a renewal were reported to have been started many months ago.

The 23-year-old attacker has come on leaps and bounds at City since joining from Liverpool in 2015, a deal which may eventually cost the club nearly £50million.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been announced as the winner of the 2016 Ballon d Or, taking out the most prestigious individual prize in world football for the fourth time.

Respected publication France Football named the 31-year-old forward as its player of the year on Monday, Ronaldo claiming the accolade ahead of arch-rival Lionel Messi of Barcelona.

Ronaldo enjoyed a glittering 2015-16 season with club and country, lifting the Champions League with Real Madrid and finally ending his wait for international honours, as Portugal triumphed at Euro 2016.

The former Sporting CP player won his first Ballon d Or at Manchester United in 2008, before collecting the prize again at Madrid in 2013 and 2014.

Allegri relishes boost in 2013

Massimiliano Allegri believes AC Milan have nothing to lose as they look to put a turbulent 2012 behind them.

Milan s form has been inconsistent during the early part of the campaign after a summer of wholesale changes within the squad, but Allegri is confident his side can kick on in 2013.

I m sure that we ll have a good second half of the season, he told Sky Sport Italia.

We re behind in the standings so we have nothing to lose.

It will be fundamental that we beat Siena when the championship re-starts and that we get to the half-way point of the league with 30 points on the board.

We know that we can’t fix the league table in a month or a game and we are aware that we have some really important matches from now until February.

Man City youngster Rico Lewis left out of England Under-21s squad for Euro 2023

Rico Lewis is a surprise omission from the England Under-21s squad for their Euro 2023 campaign this summer.

Lee Carsley’s Young Lions head to Romania and Georgia hoping for a first European Championship success since 1984, but they will be without the young City star after he was not included in the 23-man squad.

Lewis, just 18, played 23 times for City during their treble-winning season.

On this day in 2017: Man City edge derby victory to equal Premier League record

Manchester City equalled the record for consecutive wins in the Premier League with their 14th in a row on December 10, 2017.

Pep Guardiola’s side achieved the milestone in style with a 2-1 victory over neighbours Manchester United at Old Trafford.

City opened up an eye-watering double-digit lead over their local rivals after Nicolas Otamendi fired Guardiola’s men to a derby win.

The much-anticipated 175th Manchester derby was comfortably the biggest game of the Premier League season to that point, such was the need for Jose Mourinho’s Reds to claw back their swashbuckling rivals.

But the gap between table-topping City and second-placed United grew to 11 points, with Otamendi volleying home a second-half winner after Marcus Rashford had cancelled ou…

Vikings vs Panthers Week 6 Picks and Predictions: Minnesota Has Better QB, Weapons, Value

The Carolina Panthers nor the Minnesota Vikings walked away from last Sunday looking good, but at least the Vikes scrounged up a win while the Panthers let a victory slip away due to a late-game collapse.

Those fortunes have the NFL betting odds installing Carolina as a slim 1.5-point favorite for this Week 6 matchup, trying to avoid a three-game slide after starting the new season 3-0. Minnesota, on the other hand, is desperate for any momentum after a 2-3 start to the year.

Here are our NFL free picks and predictions for Vikings vs. Panthers on Sunday, October 17.

2023 NFL Mock Draft Version 2: Top Quarterback Shifts With No. 1 Pick Changing Hands

When the Carolina Panthers traded with the Chicago Bears to acquire the first overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, they shook up not just the draft board but the NFL odds for the first overall selection as well.

With the Panthers’ big move, the NFL combine in the rearview mirror, and free agency in full swing, it’s time for the real NFL mock drafts to begin.

In Version 2.0 of my 2023 NFL mock draft, the Panthers get their guy… but is that guy Bryce Young? The NFL Draft odds aren’t so sure — and neither am I.

NFL Week 9 Bet Now, Bet Later: How Low Will Fins-Chiefs Total Go?

When we were kids, we had a strategic system when it came to Trick-or-Treating on Halloween.

We’d quickly hit the new part of the subdivision that had plenty of duplexes, which meant getting two treats for every house. The value was there and ripe for the picking early in the evening.

Once our pillowcases were overflowing, we’d drop those off and grab a fresh sack for the old part of the neighborhood later in the night.

See, nobody went to that part of the subdivision anymore. So, by the time we got there, folks were dumping half their treat stock in our bags just to get rid of it.

I take the same approach to the NFL Week 9 odds, grabbing the value with the opening spreads and totals now and then waiting to score more a little l…

Texans vs Ravens Odds, Picks, and Divisional Round Predictions: Can Stroud Pick Apart Ravens Pass Defense?

Following a convincing win vs. what was a great defense on paper, the Houston Texans will take their playoff hopes on the road to a waiting Baltimore Ravens team that enters as 9.5-point favorites, has the league’s likely MVP, had more wins than any other team, and beat the best clubs in the league with ease in the regular season. They’re also among the favorites in the Super Bowl odds.

Despite the uphill battle and a move from a 2.5-point dog to a 10-point one in the NFL odds week-to-week, C.J. Stroud’s passing attempts have opened at the same number as last week. Considering the potential game script, should bettors be backing his Overs despite the tough matchup?

I break down the Divisional Round odds and offer my free NFL picks for Texans vs. Ra…

NFL Week 4 Parlay Picks & SGP: How Low Can You Go?

If you follow the NFL with any regularity, you’ll have heard the talking points by now that scoring is down and quarterback play is at a low not seen in over a decade. That’s why my best NFL Week 4 parlay targets a trio of Unders, highlighted by what should be a rockfight between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts.

Sunday night’s Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens game should buck the low-scoring trend, however, and I’ve got a solid three-leg SGP for that September 29 tilt to round out my free NFL picks.
